      <image:title>Home - A little about me…</image:title>
<image:caption>When people ask me when I knew I wanted to be a counselor, I often struggle to remember an exact moment, or some revelation, that led me to this profession. I think in some way, shape, or form, I’ve been drawn to this work my whole life. I find it to be such a natural experience, connecting with others in their most vulnerable moments, and it’s my true honor to share your experiences, happy and sad, for a living. Funny enough, even when we know something in our bones, life doesn’t always take us in a straight line. I worked for 10+ years in a corporate environment, loving any chance I had to engage in marketing activities (exploring the way people think and respond to things), employee engagement and appreciation (wanting people to feel seen, supported, and valued), and administrative activities (supporting other team members by keeping things organized and efficient). Those years didn’t always consist of the moments I loved and I learned a lot of hard lessons about workplace dynamics. I truly feel grateful for my time in the corporate world as it offered me the opportunity to support myself through school as well as to experience firsthand the ups and downs of office dynamics. I believe those years of experience allow me to offer a different perspective in sessions with clients. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor approved by the State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors to practice psychotherapy in Texas. I received a Master of Education in Counseling from the University of Houston and bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Sam Houston State University. I love animals and have a precious rescue pup, Pippa, and a sweet inherited kitty-cat, Sippi (often referred to as Pip and Sip). I have a newfound appreciation of nature and hope to continue crossing National and State Parks off my list of places to visit.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Sometimes the world can feel overwhelmingly negative. From daily news stories about the latest tragedy to comparing ourselves to others’ “perfect lives” on social media, we are often faced with a barrage of bad news that can make us feel hopeless and lost. While we can’t avoid negativity, we can learn to manage the painful parts of life so that we don’t feel overwhelmed by them. We can work toward embracing more joyful moments and learning to accept the not-so-great ones. We build our lives one experience at a time—experiences that are sometimes tragic and heartbreaking and some that are joyous and comforting. Oftentimes we don’t know how to or simply don’t want to deal with processing the painful experiences, and that affects the way we face new challenges and opportunities. Together, we can process and learn to move through those painful moments and find a way to live the life you want. Maybe you aren’t feeling hopeless or sad, but more lost and confused about what to do next. Sometimes in life we begin to feel stuck and unfulfilled and the idea of change seems necessary but intimidating and overwhelming. I can be there to support your exploration of those potential changes and encourage you to embrace the next steps in your journey.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Services - Relationship Counseling</image:title>
<image:caption>Most of us hear about how relationships take “work”, however I like to think of it as effort. Strong and loving relationships take skills a lot of us haven’t been taught. We don’t get an intimate relationship class in school and, oftentimes, the examples we see in our real lives aren’t exactly the blueprint we want to repeat for ourselves. Additionally, the ways in which we were cared for as children can influence the way we connect with our intimate partners and we may need to recognize some unhealthy attachment patterns. The good news is, we are never too far along to learn those skills and make changes to the ways we connect with one another if we are committed to putting in the effort. Couples therapy is often thought of as a last-ditch effort to save a relationship, and while that is sometimes the case, seeking relationship counseling does not mean that your relationship is doomed. Taking the step of asking for help means that you and your partner want your relationship to be strong and fulfilling. Regardless of how far along you are in your relationship, having the support of a counselor to help navigate the inevitable ups and downs of a relationship can be very beneficial. Let’s work together to heal wounds and strengthen the foundation of your relationship.</image:caption>

      <image:title>About</image:title>
<image:caption>Most mental health counselors utilize a variety of counseling theories as it’s important to tailor our approach to the needs of our clients. I am no exception. Different struggles require different techniques and it’s important that we explore what works for you. Having said that, it is also important that we practice theories that we fully believe in and identify with so that we can be authentic with our clients. I approach therapy from an existential lens, which in regards to counseling theory simply means that I believe each person is a unique blend of experiences, thoughts, and feelings, therefore it’s important to challenge the outside messages we receive and refocus our views to what we believe to be meaningful. Additionally, living a meaningful life does not mean we are always happy—it means we can accept that there will be struggles and upsets and, in spite of those inevitabilities, we have the capacity to manage the discomfort and embrace the joyful moments as often as we can. Sometimes a client’s needs are of a more practical nature, when we need some real-life techniques to help us manage our feelings. When we come across these needs, I tend to utilize CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), which consists of using exercises and concepts to challenge our negative thought patterns, allowing us to have more control over adapting our behavior.</image:caption>
